On the second day of the one and only test match being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Bangladesh bowlers were successful in taking three Afghanistan wickets before lunch, bringing the hosts’ score to three down for 35 at the break.
The first wicket to fall for the Tigers came in the sixth over of Afghanistan’s innings, when left-arm bowler Shoriful Islam nicked off Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran for six. This was the Tigers’ first breakthrough. The batsman’s feet did not move in any direction when he pushed at the ball, which resulted in an edge being given to the wicketkeeper. He slanted a full-length delivery away from the hitter.
After the end of the seventh over, the visitors were two wickets down for 24 when Ebadot Hossain delivered the goods in his very first over by sending back Afghanistan opener Abdul Malik for 17. This resulted in the hosts being two wickets down for 24.
As Ebadot bowled a short one outside off-stump, extra bounce came into play once again. Malik replied by sliding into his backfoot to hit it, but the right-handed batsman could only manage an edge that carried to Zakir Hasan at third slip.
Ebadot struck once again before lunch to remove Rahmat Shah from the match. Rahmat Shah was out because he mistimed a short one to midwicket. Before he was eliminated from the game, he shot a nine on the 18th ball.
