All-around player Shakib Al Hasan gave up only 30 runs in his four overs for Galle Titans, but Galle lost to Colombo Strikers by five wickets in a close game in the Lanka Premier League on Monday.
Tim Seifret’s unbeaten 35-ball 54 and starter Shevon Daniel’s 31-ball 49 helped Galle get to 189 for three after being put into bat first at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium. Shakib did not get to play.
In response, Babar Azam got a century, and Colombo won because starter Pathum Nissanka scored 54 runs off of 40 balls.
Babar hit 104 runs in 59 balls before speed Kasun Rajitha got him out. He hit eight fours and five sixes during that time.
Shakib didn’t get a wicket, but he caught Babar at long off and sent him back to the hut.
