The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Inzamam-ul-Haq, a past leader and a great bowler, as the new top selection for the men’s national team.
Inzamam, who was in charge of Pakistan’s men’s team from 2016 to 2019, has been brought back in before the Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, both of which will be held in India.
Between 1992 and 2007, the man who used to lead Pakistan played in 120 Tests, 378 ODIs, and one T20I. He has scored 20,541 runs in international cricket, which makes him Pakistan’s top run maker.
During his last time as head selection, Pakistan beat India by 180 runs at The Oval to win the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. He also chose the team that won five of its nine league games at the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England and Wales, but didn’t make it to the next round.
Inzamam’s first job as captain again would be to choose a team for Pakistan’s upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka, which starts on August 22. This would be followed by the Asia Cup and then the Cricket World Cup.
Pakistan’s first match in the Cricket World Cup will be on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad against the Netherlands. On November 19, the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
