The Indian Premier League announced on Monday that Cameron Green was transferred from Mumbai to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Hardik Pandya was traded to his old team, the Mumbai Indians, from the Gujarat Titans.
Five-time victors All-rounder Pandya was returned to Mumbai for his current player price of $1.8 million as teams got ready to organise their purses and wish lists for the December 19 IPL auction in Dubai.
Pandya originally paid $11,000 to join Mumbai, which is owned by Nita Ambani, the wife of Reliance Industries tycoon Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India.
“We are overjoyed to have Hardik return home! Nita Ambani released a statement saying, “It’s a heartwarming reunion with our Mumbai Indians family!”
“From being a young scouted talent of Mumbai Indians to now being a Team India star, Hardik has come a long way and we’re excited for what the future holds for him and Mumbai Indians.”
Pandya, an aggressive batsman and fast bowler, captained Gujarat to the runners-up position this year after leading them to the IPL title in their first season in 2022.
With a strike rate of 133.49 and 833 runs in 30 innings, he took the lead early on. Pandya claimed eleven wickets.
Prior to the 2024 season, India’s Shubman Gill was selected captain of Gujarat.
According to Gujarat’s director of cricket Vikram Solanki, “Shubman Gill has shown growth in stature and standing over the last two years at the highest level of the game.”
“We’ve seen him mature not only as a batter but also as a leader in cricket.”
Australian all-rounder Green, who cost $2.11 million to purchase at the 2023 season’s auction, was let go by Mumbai.
Green scored two half-centuries and an undefeated century during his stellar IPL debut. With his quick bowling, he claimed six wickets.
Green, 24, moves to Bangalore to join Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, who are both still chasing their first IPL championship.
