Nahida Akter is the first Bangladeshi woman to be named ICC Women’s Player of the Month, receiving the honor for her performance in November.
Nahida was overjoyed to earn the monthly award after defeating compatriot Fargana Hoque and Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal.
“This is a moment to cherish,” Nahida added.
“It means a lot to be recognized by such an esteemed panel of cricket experts, and winning the ICC Women Player of the Month award will be a huge source of inspiration and motivation for me.”
“We’ve played some incredible cricket in recent months, and I’m thrilled to have contributed to our team’s success.” “I want to thank my captain, coaches, and teammates for always believing in me, which has allowed me to play my natural game against high-level opponents and perform under pressure,” she added.
Nahida took seven wickets in the Tigresses’ three-match ODI series against Pakistan at home in November, helping them to a 2-1 series victory.
She took three wickets in the first match, which the Tigresses lost, one wicket and bowled the all-important super over in the second ODI, which the hosts won, and three wickets in the series-decider, which the Tigresses won.
The 23-year-old is already Bangladesh’s leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is and third in ODIs.
