Moeen fined for using drying agent in Ashes Test

Moeen fined for using drying agent in ashes test0

Moeen Ali, an off-spinner for England, has been penalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with a fine equal to 25 percent of his match fee and one demerit point for putting an unapproved drying agent on his bowling hand during the first Ashes Test match, which took place at Edgbaston.

The ICC made the announcement on Sunday.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided that Moeen, who is playing in his first Test after a hiatus of almost two years, was just seeking to dry his hands when he used the spray and had no intention of attempting to change the condition of the ball.

Moeen, who turned 36 on Sunday, violated a pre-series directive that players were not allowed to put anything on their hands without the agreement of the umpires by using the spray. The order said that players could not put anything on their hands.

An official statement from the International Cricket Council (ICC) said as follows: “England player Moeen Ali has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC code of conduct during the first Test match against Australia in Birmingham on Saturday.”

“Ali was found to have violated Article 2.20 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support employees, which refers to demonstrating behaviour that is antithetical to the spirit of the game. This finding was made when it was determined that Ali had violated this article.

In addition to this, Ali’s disciplinary record has been marked with one demerit point since this was the first offense Ali has committed in the last twenty-four months.

Moeen’s punishment amounted to $3,750 in light of the fact that England players earn about $19,000 every test match.
