The head coach of Bangladesh, Chandika Hathurusingha, gave praise to his players for overcoming the mental hurdle that the Tigers have often encountered while demonstrating a readiness to play on green surfaces that give assistance for the pacers at home.
The one-off Test match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan was held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Bangladesh won the match by a record-setting 546 runs.
The Tigers’ batting lineup included three fast bowlers, and the Tigers’ fast-bowling trio of Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Ebadot Hossain took 14 wickets between them as they eliminated all forms of Afghan resistance.
The veteran, who is now 54 years old, recognized the emotions around the monumental triumph, which he referred to as being “more than just a Test win.” He also lauded the mindset his camp had about playing on such wickets, which is a far cry from what is often delivered in Mirpur.
“I don’t know if you have seen it but I’ve stated on social media that it is more than a Test victory. I don’t know if you have seen it. To clarify, what I intended to say was that we did something different in the manner that we prepared for this game than we ever have before. To play on that kind of a wicket and then come away with flying colors which is a big mental barrier that we broke because, before the game, I felt a lot of people had doubts about the way we would go and even though we played in a way that we normally don’t play, we had a different strength.,” Hathurusingha told the reporters on Sunday. “If we think about the way we prepared the wicket, which was fast and green, I think that it was a big win for us.”
“Gamini, the curator, deserves credit as well for preparing the wicket in such a way,” said the commentator. Therefore, I believe that this is more than simply a victory in a Test,” he said.
