According to cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus, who spoke to the media the other day, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given the nod of approval (NOC) to ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and batter Liton Das to participate in the Global T20 League Canada.
Both of the Bangladesh stars have been given NOCs, so they will be able to participate in the T20 event from the very beginning. The third edition of the tournament will begin on July 20 and will continue until August 6.
“Shakib’s request for a NOC to participate in the Global T20 League was approved, and he requested that the NOC be valid from July 20 through July 29. Even Liton will be leaving. He had requested that NOC play from the 20th of July till the 6th of August. Yesterday, Jalal announced to the media that both of their NOCs had been approved.
Due to the enormous amount of labor involved in red-ball cricket, Taskin Ahmed was discouraged from participating in the County Championship season. Both Shakib and Liton were given permission to play in competitive cricket in advance of the World Cup so that they may improve their game.
“There is no national duty right now, and after discussions with the head coach and the management, they [Shakib and Liton] were given clearance to play.” The more challenging matches that they are able to play in the time remaining before the World Cup, the better it will be for us.
As a justification for awarding them the NOC before the World Cup, Jalal noted the fact that the Asia Cup schedule has not yet been finalized but it is possible that the tournament would begin in the first week of September and that the players will be in Dhaka by the 20th of this month.
While it is anticipated that Liton would be available following the G20 League in Canada, Shakib will be departing for the Lanka Premier League shortly afterwards.
On the other hand, Jalal disclosed the information that Shakib’s participation in the competition may be limited since his NOC clearance had been granted in accordance with the conditions of the team management.
