Fortune Barishal held Rangpur Riders to 134-9 in their Bangladesh Premier League encounter today at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, with pacer Khaled Ahmed taking four wickets.
Pakistani bowler Mohammad Imran Junior set the tone for the innings with the opening delivery, rattling Brandon King’s stumps with an inswinging yorker.
Barishal bowlers then maintained taking wickets in quick succession, preventing Ranpur from gaining any momentum.
Shamim Hossain’s 33-ball 34 and Mahedi Hasan’s 19-ball 29 helped Rangpur to a score of more than 130.
Shakib Al Hasan, Rangpur’s outstanding all-rounder, managed only two runs in his first competitive innings after becoming a member of parliament.
Earlier, Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and chose to field first.
This is the first time Shakib and Tamim have faced off on the cricket pitch since their public spat before last year’s ICC ODI World Cup.
