'did not talk' to shakib, says tamim 0

Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal said that he did not speak with Rangpur Riders all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan after his team won their first Bangladesh Premier League 2024 match by five wickets on Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Tamim said, “No, we did not talk,” when asked whether he spoke with Shakib.

“I don’t believe this question is significant. You are all aware of the situation. Why do you keep poking? “If you have any questions, ask him,” he said.

Obviously, I’ll chat to Shakib and Mashrafe when we meet. Tamim

Tamim had said that he would speak to Shakib when they got the opportunity to meet.

“I haven’t met any of them yet, but when I do, we’ll surely chat. Let’s see’, he said to reporters during a practice session at PKSP on Thursday.

Tamim’s 35 off 24 balls and Mahmudullah’s cameo of 19 off 11 balls helped Fortune Barishal to their first victory of the season.

This is the first time Shakib and Tamim have faced off on the cricket pitch since their public spat before last year’s ICC ODI World Cup.

Tamim set up the 135-run chase by putting Barishal on 51-1 at the conclusion of the Powerplay.

Mahmudullah then completed the scoring with a six in the penultimate over and another in the first ball of the last over, taking the team to 138-5.

Earlier, the Barishal bowlers established the groundwork for the win by limiting Rangpur to 134-9.

Shamim Hossain top-scored with 33 from 34 balls, while pacer Khaled Ahmed took 4-31.

Shakib Al Hasan, in his maiden match as a member of parliament, scored two runs for Rangpur and took the wickets of Ibrahim Zadran and Mushfiqur Rahim.
