After defeating their Bangladeshi opponents in the final of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup by a score of 31 runs at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, India A was able to claim victory and take home the trophy for the first time.

After keeping India to a manageable total of 127 for seven throughout the course of the 20-over game, Bangladesh’s batting performance deteriorated, as they were bowled out for 96 runs in 19.2 overs.

Only three Bangladeshi batters were able to reach the double-digit mark, with Nahida Akter, who batted lower in the order, scoring the most runs for her side with an undefeated knock of 17 runs off 22 balls.

Opener Shathi Rani had a strong beginning, hitting 13 runs off 11 deliveries, but Bangladesh’s momentum was halted when they lost two wickets in just 3.2 overs. Since then, Bangladesh has never been able to put up a respectable partnership since they consistently lose wickets.

Shreyanka Patil was a standout performer with the bat for India A, recording figures of four for 13 from her three overs.

Earlier, when Bangladesh was required to play first, their bowlers were able to put up a respectable performance on the field. Both Nahida Akter and Sultana Khatun were responsible for taking two wickets for the Tigresses.

In a nail-biting semifinal match against Pakistan on Monday, Bangladesh emerged victorious with a slim victory by six runs.
