In preparation for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers, which will take place in Thailand from September 4 to 12, Zulfiker Mahmud Mintu has been given the position of head coach of the Bangladesh U-23 national football team.
AFC A license holder Mintu, who is also the head coach of Bangladesh Premier League club Sheikh Russel KC, has previously served as an assistant coach for the senior national team under Maruful Haque during the SAFF Championship and the Bangabandhu Gold Cup. Mintu now holds both of these positions.
Masud Parvez Mintu will be assisted in his coaching duties by Kaiser, who is currently in charge of Fortis FC. Kaiser’s previous experience with the senior national team included serving in the same role.
The National Teams Committee, which is led by the BFF vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed and met yesterday but could not reach a conclusion, met yesterday and decided to postpone.
The host nation of Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines are the other two teams in Bangladesh’s Group H bracket. The eleven group winners, as well as the four best teams that finished second, will move on to the championship round in Qatar the following year.
