With an outstanding bowling effort on Sunday in Chelmsford, Bangladesh defeated Ireland in the one-day international series by a score of 2-0 to win the series.
Mustafizur Rahman, who was awarded player of the match honors, became the star of the match with a four-for, but young Hasan Mahmud stole the show with his amazing performance in the last over as Bangladesh defeated the hosts by five runs.
After a victory by five runs in the third and final one-day international, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal heaped praise on his bowling unit. “The confidence boost that the bowling team will receive as a result of this victory will be significant. I am overjoyed for all of the bowlers since they performed such an outstanding job. He added that defending 274 on this terrain wasn’t a simple task at all.
Ireland, on the other hand, was unable to compete with Tamim’s captaincy. Tamim took a risk by betting on Najmul Hossain Shanto’s part-time off-spin, and he was rewarded for his wager. The 65-ball-79-run stand was broken by a small pull mistake by Harry Tector, which Liton Das at long on did very well to hang on to in order to break it.
“I’m still not an all-rounder but Tamim probably now believes I can bowl,” Shanto, who was declared man-of-the-series, said at a post-match ceremony after being awarded the honor of being man-of-the-match.
“I just carried out the steps in my procedure. I put in a lot of work with Herath [Rangana], and things started to fall into place. Miraz [Mehedi Hasan] was of great assistance to me while I was bowling. The captain had informed me that I would bowl. I carried out his directions in full. I didn’t ask for the ball today, but I did request that he bowl to me instead. I attempt to follow Mehidy’s behavior, but I’m unable to do it in an accurate manner,” he said.
Shanto further mentioned that the most memorable part of the series for him was scoring his first hundred points in an ODI match. “The first hundred is more special, and I hope that I can continue my batting form.”
