Lyon warns England over Ashes boundary ploy

Lyon warns england over ashes boundary ploy0

Nathan Lyon, the master of spin for Australia, shot off worries on Monday that England may utilize short boundaries for the forthcoming Ashes to supercharge their attacking “Bazball” style by stating that it worked both ways. He was referring to the possibility that England could employ shorter boundaries.

According to a report that was published in London’s Times newspaper earlier this month, the hosts reportedly explored the possibility of moving the boundary ropes closer to the minimum of 59 meters that is authorized by the International Cricket Council.

This would provide the explosive top-order batters for England with an opportunity to punish Australia’s bowling attack, which is led by Lyon, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood.

But Lyon, who has played in 119 tests, pointed out that Australia’s batsmen would also benefit from this.

According to comments made by Lyon to cricket.com.au, Travis Head is also “pretty excited” about the 59-meter boundaries.

Off-spinner Lyon, who has taken 482 wickets in Tests, 101 of which have been against England, is looking forward to facing the daring attitude of skipper Ben Stokes and the rest of England’s batters. Lyon has taken 101 of his wickets against England.

Lyon stated, “I have planned for that, and I’m excited by the challenge that it presents to me.”
“I want to test myself against the best players, and this style of cricket they’re playing is undeniably bringing the crowds back,” he said. “I want to play for India.”

“I’ve been knocked down six times… I must be getting close to 300 (times) now. It does not in any way worry me, and it does not frighten me in the least. In my opinion, it affords us the opportunity to take wickets.

Since Brendon McCullum of New Zealand came over as coach and Stokes took over as captain, England has seen a significant uptick in the intensity of their game.

They have chosen a policy of aggression in order to maintain pressure on the opposition and keep the audience pleased.

After suffering a 4-0 defeat in Australia during the 2021-22 Ashes series, England will enter the five-match series that will begin on June 16 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Last month, star England seamer Stuart Broad caused a stir when he stated that the outcome didn’t count in his mind since the rigorous regulations of COVID prevented the squad from functioning normally while they were on tour. This statement caused a lot of controversy.

However, Lyon rebutted that by saying, “One hundred percent I’m counting that, that was a 4-0 victory for Australia.”
