Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of Bayern Munich, is sure that England captain Harry Kane will move from Tottenham Hotspur to the German giants.
Kane “has made it clear in all conversations that his decision (to join Bayern this summer) has been made,” Hoeness told reporters late Saturday. “If he sticks to that, then we’ll get him because Tottenham will have to give way,” he added.
It has been said that Bayern and Kane have agreed on personal terms, but Spurs turned down Bayern’s initial $76 million bid for Kane. Spurs are said to want at least 100 million euros for their star striker, who is part of the London club’s Asia-Pacific tour squad.
It is said that the German winners want to sign England’s all-time leading scorer, whose deal with Spurs runs out in 2024.
Kane’s team is thought to have agreed to the move, but Bayern and Tottenham still need to agree on a transfer fee for the deal to go through.
Hoeness said that Kane “wants to play in an international competition,” but that “Tottenham is not qualified to play in Europe next season” like “our club.”
The striker “now has the chance to come play for one of the best clubs in Europe,” said Hoeness, who is on a group with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and coach Thomas Tuchel that is in charge of recruiting this summer.
Hoeness said that it wasn’t easy to talk with Spurs owner Daniel Levy.
He said that Levy is smart and that the first step is to get him to the point where he can figure out how much to send.
“He’s trying to buy time. He’s a professional with a lot of experience, and I respect him a lot. On the other hand, we didn’t come into the world yesterday.”
