Fans in Sylhet are a little worried about the weather because the first of two T20I games between Bangladesh and Afghanistan is set to start at 6 p.m. today.

Since yesterday, clouds have been hanging over Sylhet, making the sky dark. There was rain and thunder last night, so the groundskeepers at the Sylhet International Cricket field had to work hard to clean up the pitch and ground.

The weather report says that there is a 70–80% chance of rain in the afternoon, which is when the game is set to start.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said yesterday that the home team was ready in case the game had to be cut short because of bad weather.

“The boss and we have told everyone that they need to stay ready. We are in a situation where it could rain at any time, shortening the game to five, ten, or even 15–18 overs. Or we can play for the full 20 overs. Shakib told the press yesterday, “I think we should keep an open mind. We’ll find out how many overs will be played in the game, and we’ll try to make the playing XI based on that.”

Even though there is a high chance of rain, fans in Sylhet will hope to see the Tigers play, and the stadium is expected to be packed.
