West indies recall hetmyer, thomas for india odis0

Shimron Hetmyer, a left-handed batsman, and Oshane Thomas, a fast bowler, have been invited back into the West Indian team for the upcoming One Day International series against India, which will begin on Thursday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

On Monday, Cricket West Indies released a statement saying that former leaders Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder, as well as all-rounder Keemo Paul, were unavailable for selection due to injury.

Chief selector Desmond Haynes stated in the announcement, “We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group.”

Both have experience playing at the international level and have contributed to previous national teams.

Oshane bowls quickly and has the ability to take wickets with the new ball. Shimron’s hitting style will contribute significantly, particularly in the middle of the innings, and he has the ability to close out the game.

After completing their respective surgical recoveries, fast bowler Jayden Seales and leg-spinner Yannic Cariah have been added to the squad. Gudakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner who had been sidelined by a back ailment, has also been called up.

The West Indies, defending champions on two separate occasions, were eliminated from the One-Day International World Cup after losing to India in a lopsided 2-0 test series.

The team was led by Shai Hope and included Rovman Powell, Alick Athanaze, Yannic Cariah, Keacy Carty, Dominic Drakes, Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd, Kevin Sinclair, and Oshane Thomas.
