West indies' cricketer dowrich announces international retirement at 320

Shane Dowrich, a former West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman, has resigned from international cricket and withdrawn from the squad for the country’s one-day international series against England, the country’s cricket board (CWI) announced on Thursday.

Dowrich was unexpectedly recalled to the West Indies squad this month, three years after his last Test and four years after his last ODI.

The 32-year-old batted in 35 Tests, scoring 1570 runs and being unbeaten against Sri Lanka in 2018. As a wicketkeeper, he also recorded 85 catches and five stumpings.

“We’d like to thank Shane for his contributions while playing for the West Indies.” “He is a disciplined, hardworking cricketer who has always given his all in front and behind the stumps,” said CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe.

“We respect his decision to retire and understand how difficult it was for him to make.” We wish him the best as he retires from international competition.”
