Tahura Khatun’s brace propelled Bangladesh’s women’s football team to a 3-0 triumph against Singapore in the first of two FIFA friendly matches on Friday at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
Bangladesh took the lead in the third minute with a close-range header from defender Afeida Khandokar, before Tahura scored on either side of the halftime to seal the victory.
It is Bangladesh’s first victory since winning their inaugural SAFF Women’s Championship in September of last year. Since then, they’ve played six international matches, which coincides with the departure of head coach Golam Rabbani Choton.
Bangladesh was defeated 3-0 by Singapore in the 2017 Tri-Nation Cup in Singapore.
The women in red and green competed in the invitational event as part of their preparation for the 2017 AFC U-17 Women’s Championship, which will be held in Thailand.
