In their first meeting as a committee, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s three-member special committee to analyse the team’s performance in the recently completed ODI World Cup in India met with selectors and players on Sunday.
The three-person committee is made up of BCB directors Enayet Hossain Siraj (convener), Mahbubul Anam (member), and Akram Khan (member). Before meeting with bowler Mustafizur Rahman and wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das, they summoned top selector Minhajul Abedin and selector Habibul Bashar.
“We gave our opinions,” Minhajul told reporters following the meeting, adding that the discussion’s content was confidential.
Convener Siraj, on the other hand, stated that the goal is to improve the team’s performance in the future, rather than to conduct a “inquiry.”
“The thing is, we’re talking with everyone. It’s not a question. The failures we had at the World Cup, where our performances did not meet expectations, meant that we needed to talk to everyone so that we could lead the team to higher levels in the future. It’s the early phases, and when we finish, we’ll deliver our findings to the board, and they’ll give you all the information,” Siraj told reporters after the meetings ended.
When asked when the head coach and captain will be summoned, Siraj replied, “We haven’t scheduled it yet.”
Bangladesh concluded its poorest World Cup campaign in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) since 2003, winning only two of nine matches and ending eighth in the standings despite high expectations due to the side’s experience.
