Following a comprehensive nine-wicket win against Rwanda in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier, Uganda will become only the fifth African country to compete in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

It will be their debut appearance at an ICC World Cup.

Rwanda batted first and only managed 65 in 18.5 overs, with Eric Dusingizimana scoring a team-high 19.

Uganda cruised home with nine wickets in hand and 11.5 overs to spare thanks to opener Simon Ssesazi’s quick 26 from 21 deliveries.

As a result, Uganda and Namibia qualified, while Zimbabwe was eliminated, failing to qualify for the next T20 World Cup event.

Zimbabwe appears to be on track to win their match against Kenya, having posted 217 for four, but the win would only give them eight points as their terrible run in World Cup qualifiers continues. Zimbabwe also failed to qualify for the 2019 and 2023 World Cups after failing to finish among the top two teams in home qualifiers.
