After scoring a patient 76 in the first innings, Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed for an uncommon score of 17 after facing 13 balls. The right-handed batsman scored four boundaries in the opening two overs of the game, despite the fact that he had a chance to be dismissed in the first over due to a dropped catch at gully.

Additionally, Afghanistan did not take advantage of a run-out chance in the second over to get rid of Zakir Hasan, who had not yet faced a delivery.

After Nijat Masood was injured during the second over, Amir Hamza stepped in to finish out the over and bowl the final delivery. Joy was caught at first slip off of Hamza’s delivery.

Following Joy’s departure from the game, Zakir and Najmul Hossain Shanto had handled the substandard deliveries with ease, so putting up an undefeated 50-run stand for their team.
