Tigers decide against enforcing follow on, miraz reach milestone0

On the second day of the lone test match being played in Mirpur today, Afghanistan’s first innings ended with them being all out for 146 and unable to escape following on.

Bangladesh spinners had very little time to clear up the tail after Afghanistan had been bowled out.

The Tigers, on the other hand, made the decision to not enforce follow on.

After tea, Taijul Islam removed the ninth batter, debutant Nijat Masood for naught, with Zakir Hasan taking a sharp catch at silly mid-off, and Mehedi Hasan Miraz removed broke the resilience of Karim Janat (23) to become the third Bangladeshi bowler to scalp 150 wickets in Tests, following in the footsteps of Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh lost their last five wickets for a total of 20 runs, which brought their total score down to 382. In their response, the visitors struggled right from the start and were in deep danger when they reached the score of 51 for four until a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket gave them hope. It seemed that Afghanistan’s batting depth was weak, as their lower order batters battled in the center of the field.
