Tanzim Hasan Sakib, a young pacer who will play for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, departed for Colombo at 1:00 p.m. today.
After arriving in Colombo, Sakib will drive to Pallekele, where the Tigers’ first tournament match versus Sri Lanka will take place on August 31.
The injured bowler Ebadot Hossain was replaced by the 20-year-old. However, owing to certain tickets issues, Sakib was unable to travel with the group on Sunday.
Liton Das, who missed the Sunday journey as well because of a fever, is still unable to completely recuperate.
If Liton’s health becomes better throughout the course of the night, he could board the plane for Sri Lanka on Tuesday. However, it would be difficult for the Tigers’ vice-captain to participate in the first game even if Liton goes on Tuesday.
Liton tested negative for dengue, and his other findings from the BCB’s medical division were likewise good.
The team management will need to come up with a backup opener before the tournament begins since Liton is the most seasoned opener in Tamim Iqbal’s absence.
