Because of a back problem, Tamim Iqbal, the opening batsman for Bangladesh, will not be participating in the one-off test match that the Tigers will play against Afghanistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium commencing on Wednesday.
“Tamim has been dealing with recurrent episodes of lower back pain, which have caused him a great deal of discomfort. “Our treatment and procedures focused on reducing the pain and improving his functional ability but unfortunately, his condition hasn’t improved sufficiently for him to play the Test match,” the physiotherapist for the Bangladesh cricket team, Muzadded Alpha Sany, was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today.
The statement was made in response to the news that Bangladesh team captain Shakib Al Hasan would not be able to play in the upcoming Test match.During training, he experienced stiffness and soreness when hitting and fielding, and as a result, he has been unable to complete the necessary physical preparation to play for the last five days.
Last year, Tamim was sidelined with a groin injury and was unable to participate in the series against India. However, he made his comeback for the one-day series against England and then played in both the home and away ODI series against Ireland.
