Ben Stokes, the captain of England in Twenty20 and Test cricket, has reportedly withdrawn from the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
The all-rounder, who participated in the 2023 edition of the league for the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings, has opted not to play in order to manage his workload in advance of England’s five-Test series against India in January and the T20 World Cup in June.
Participating in the recently ended ICC World Cup in India, the 32-year-old helped England place seventh out of ten teams.
Stokes played for England at the World Cup after coming out of retirement, although he was unable to have a significant effect.
