In the first of three ODI matches against Zimbabwe on Saturday, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat.

With opener Pathum Nissanka out of the series due to dengue sickness, all-rounder Janith Liyanage will play in his debut ODI for the home team.

Wanindu Hasaranga, a leg-spinner, was also out due to a hamstring injury, although he should be back later in the series.

Tapiwa Mufudza and Faraz Akram were Zimbabwe’s two debutantes.

The teams will play three Twenty20 matches in Colombo after two further one-day matches on Monday and Thursday.

Groups

Kusal Mendis (capt, wk), Charith Asalanka, Sahan Arachchige, Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Dilshan Madushanka are the Sri Lankan players.

The Zimbabwean team consists of the following players: Milton Shumba, Faraz Akram, Sikandar Raza, Tapiwa Mufudza, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Ryan Burl, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, and Clive Madande (wk).
