Tottenham Hotspur has announced that its players will pay back the fans who purchased tickets for their 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
The players expressed regret for their performance and promised to work hard to bounce back and secure a top-four position in the Premier League with only six games remaining.
The loss resulted in Spurs firing their interim coach Cristian Stellini on Monday, and appointing Ryan Mason as the new head coach until a permanent replacement is found.
The players from Tottenham Hotspur acknowledged the fans’ disappointment and apologized for their poor performance in a statement, recognizing that their words cannot fully make up for the loss.
We are grateful for your support whether you attend our games at home or away. As a gesture of our gratitude, we would like to give fans a refund for the cost of their tickets purchased for the match at St James’ Park.
Although we cannot change what happened on Sunday, we are determined to make it right in the upcoming match against Manchester United on Thursday. Your support will be crucial to our success.
Spurs have 53 points and are currently in fifth place, but they are six points behind United who are in fourth place, and Spurs have played two more games than United.
The Spurs have created a Fan Advisory Board (FAB) to keep their fans informed about their decision-making process.
The FAB will have quarterly meetings and one of its members will attend the club’s board meetings four times a year. Additionally, working groups will be established to address supporter concerns.
English Premier League clubs agreed to enhance their offerings for fans by introducing Fan Advisory Boards in June of last year.
Spurs announced that the FAB will be responsible for various off-field matters, including the club’s strategic goals, performance updates, priorities, matchday operations, and stadium issues.
