In the Super Four encounter between these two teams, which took place today in Colombo, Bangladesh bowler Shoriful Islam returned for his second stint and collected two wickets for the Tigers, both of which were extremely helpful.

After Hasan Mahmud struck first by removing opener Dimuth Karunaratne, the stand between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis was looking dangerous for Bangladesh. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis were batting at the second wicket.

Shoriful was successful in getting one to zip back to right-hander Nissanka, which led to him being trapped in front of the wicket. This combination for the second wicket scored 74 runs, which propelled the home team quickly above the century mark. Nissanka’s innings came to an end after 60 balls, and Sri Lanka decided to review the decision, but it was to no use.

After Nissanka was removed from the game by Shoriful, Mendis reached his 23rd one-day international fifty before he was also removed. After 26 overs, Sri Lanka has scored 117 for three.
