On Tuesday, Shakib Al Hasan’s Lanka Premier League team, the Galle Titans, defeated B-Love Kandy by a mammoth 83 run margin. Shakib Al Hasan performed an all-around performance throughout the match.
Shakib hit a quickfire 30 off 21 balls to lead his team to a solid total of 180 for five before taking two wickets for 10 runs in his three overs to help bundle out B-Love Kandy for 97 in 17.1 overs in Colombo. Shakib’s performance helped his side win the match.
Shakib came in to bat when there were already three wickets down, and he and Tim Seifert put together a fast 95-run fourth-wicket partnership off of only 52 deliveries. Shakib, who hit two sixes in his innings, may have had his knock develop into something even more remarkable if he had not been run out in the 18th over. Shakib’s knock included two sixes.
Seifert hammered a 74 off of 39 balls for Galle Titans, which was packed with five boundaries and as many sixes as maximums. This allowed Galle Titans to finish with a large score on the board.
Shakib joined the bowling attack in the ninth over and began off with a wide, but he took the wicket of Asif Ali with his first legal ball of the game, leaving B-Love Kandy reeling at six for 46 in 8.1 overs. Shakib came into the game as a replacement bowler.
In the same manner in which he had begun the game, Shakib finished his stint for the match with another wicket, this time taking the wicket of Aamer Jamal in the 13th over.
B-Love Kandy never seemed to be in control of the chase as they fell short by a significant margin. Ashen Bandara’s 19-ball 27 was the highest score for the team, but it was not enough.
