Shakib reaches fifty, keeps bangladesh on track 0

As Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan hit his first fifty of the World Cup, he showed signs of life with the bat. This helped Bangladesh chip away at Sri Lanka’s 279-run mark.

Like the other player at the crease, Shakib reached fifty with a four in the 25th over. It took him 47 balls to hit the mark, which was his 56th ODI fifty. Five hundred runs were scored in 48 balls, with seven fours and a six. He shared an unbeaten 127-run stand with Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 78 runs in 81 balls.

This was the first 100-run partnership for Bangladesh in the event.

After 26 overs, Bangladesh had scored 168 runs but lost two.

Shanto gets the second fifty of the World Cup.

Najmul Hossain Shanto scored his second fifty of the World Cup against Sri Lanka in Delhi on Monday. This ended a terrible run of scores below ten.

When he pulled Angelo Mathews for a boundary in the 21st over, the left-handed batter got his fifty in 58 balls. This ended a run of six games in a row in which he was out for single digit scores: 0,7,8,0,9, and 4.

Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh’s captain, put together a 92-run stand for the third wicket. Al Hasan got 37 runs off of 21 balls without being out, and Bangladesh was 133 for 2 after 21 overs.

Liton is sent back by Madushanka Yorker and

Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka got Bangladesh opener Liton Das out with an in-swinging yorker in the seventh over of the game. This came after Madushanka got rid of Das’s partner Tanzid Hasan Tamim.

Liton got cramps after hitting Kasun Rajitha for two sixes in the sixth over. In the next over, Madushanka threw a yorker, and Liton took a long time to get his bat down, and even when he did, it didn’t go through because it hit the ground and Liton’s front pad.

After he was out for 22 off of 23 balls, Bangladesh was two down for 43 after seven overs.

Tanzid leaves early

Tanzid Hasan Tamim, the opener for Bangladesh, failed to deliver again at the top. He was out for nine runs off of five balls against Sri Lanka in their ICC World Cup match in Delhi on Monday, after hitting two fours.

The opener hit two fours off of left-arm bowler Dilshan Madushanka in the first over of the game. He had only scored fifty once in eight innings so far in the tournament. He tried to be the attacker against Madushanka but lost when he tried to hit a wide ball that turned away. Since he only hit the ball with the toe end of the bat and scooped it to cover, he didn’t make enough contact. This was Madushanka’s 19th wicket of the event.

After the third over, Bangladesh had scored 23 runs and lost one.

Ashoka tonne helps Sri Lanka score 279

In their ICC World Cup match against Bangladesh on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Charith Asalanka hit his second ODI hundred, which helped his team score 279 runs.

For his 105-ball 108, Asalanka hit six fours and five sixes, taking 101 balls to reach the mark. The Sri Lankans were put in to bat first. After being down to six for 213 for six in the 38th over, the Lankans were run out for 279 runs.

The left-handed batter put together a 63-run stand with Sadeera Samawickrama, who scored 41 off 42 balls. This came after Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka put together a 61-run stand, with Pathum hitting eight fours for his 36-ball 41.

Angelo Mathews, a batter for Sri Lanka, was timed out because it took him too long to take the strike after Samarawickrama was out in the 25th over of the game. This was a rare dismissal. Bangladesh’s captain, Shakib Al Hasan, made an appeal to the on-field judge. After a long conversation, the umpire agreed with Al Hasan and Mathews had to leave the pitch.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib, a Bangladeshi fast bowler who came in for Mustafizur Rahman, took three wickets but allowed 80 runs. Shakib Al Hasan and Shoriful each took two wickets.

Dhananjaya de Silva was out by a stumping by Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who took the sixth wicket for Sri Lanka. After 38 overs in Delhi, Sri Lanka was 213-6.

When De Silva came down the track, the ball got between his bat and pad and into Mushfiqur Rahim’s hands. The ball popped out of Mushfiqur’s hands, and he almost messed up the chance.

In the second grab, though, he got the ball and moved the bails out of the way before De Silva could get back.

At the other end, Charith Asalanka is in great shape. He has scored 71 runs off of 82 balls.

After Mathews was timed out, he was the first batter in the history of international cricket to be so called. Sri Lanka was then five runs behind with 135 runs to be scored in 24.2 overs.

Asalanka, who reached fifty off of 56 balls, and De Silva have made the innings stronger while keeping the run rate high since then.

Mathews ran out of time, which is a first in international cricket.

An international cricket player has been timed out for the first time.

As Sri Lanka lost their fourth wicket for 135 runs in Delhi, Shakib Al Hasan broke a fifty-plus stand by getting rid of Sadeera Samarawickrama for 41 runs off 42 balls. Samarawickrama looked like a dangerous player.

Because of a problem with his helmet, Mathews took too long to get ready to take strike. The Bangladesh fielders then told the on-field judge that the batter had run out of time.

One of the rules says that the new hitter has to be ready to go within two minutes of being out.

Mathews was sent back to the dugout after the umpire agreed with the appeal.

Since Bangladesh is ninth in the points table and Sri Lanka is seventh, they are no longer in the running for a spot in the quarterfinals. But today’s game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium won’t be a dull affair for either team. They are both trying to finish in the top eight in their group and qualify for the Champions Trophy.

As pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib is about to make his World Cup start, the Tigers have made one change. He will replace Mustafizur Rahman, who isn’t fully fit yet.
