Sri Lanka has come back from an early loss thanks to Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. They have hit 52 for the loss of one wicket after the first powerplay in Delhi.
Nissanka has been the more aggressive of the two. She has hit eight fours and is now 39 off 32 balls. It took Mendis 14 balls to get off to a good start. He is now on 7 off 23 balls.
Taskin Ahmed has put the hitters through the most pressure, giving up only 16 runs in five overs, but he hasn’t caught a ball yet.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who was playing in his first World Cup, came on to bat in the seventh over and got Nissanka to hit an outside edge that went through the empty first slip area for a boundary. In his first two overs, he has given up 13 runs.
Shoriful Islam, who took the wicket, has given up 22 runs in three overs.

Tatim Sakib makes his World Cup start as the Tigers bowl first.
Bangladesh won the toss and will bat first against Sri Lanka in their second-to-last match of the ICC World Cup in Delhi today. The only thing at stake for both teams is a spot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Since Bangladesh is ninth in the points table and Sri Lanka is seventh, they are no longer in the running for a spot in the quarterfinals. But today’s game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium won’t be a dull affair for either team. They are both trying to finish in the top eight in their group and qualify for the Champions Trophy.
As pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib is about to make his World Cup start, the Tigers have made one change. He will replace Mustafizur Rahman, who isn’t fully fit yet.
Sri Lanka lost their last game to India by a crushing 302 runs. They have made a couple of changes, removing Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Perera in place of Dhananjaya de Silva and Dushan Hemantha.
