Bangladesh is expected to perform well in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in June, according to Shakib Al Hasan, who believes that playing conditions in the US and the West Indies would help the Tigers.
“Both the US and the West Indies will host the competition. The pitch will work well for our kind of cricket. Hence, we have a decent opportunity,” Shakib said to the press in Mirpur this afternoon.
Shakib also mentioned Bangladesh’s better performance in the format in 2023, as the team won 10 of their 14 games, and expressed his optimism that this success would continue into the T20 World Cup.
“For the last year, we have been performing pretty well in Twenty20 cricket. Both the team’s balance and rhythm are excellent. Everybody is doing well. In New Zealand, the squad performed well as well. Naturally, we have high standards,” the all-around player said.
Shakib, a candidate in Sunday’s national elections, is now working out to get back in shape for the next Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.
Rangpur Riders have signed the all-rounder for the next competition, which kicks off on January 19.
