As Afghanistan announced their 16-man roster for the upcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh on Sunday, Mohammad Shahzad made his first appearance in the national team in over two years.

The wicket-keeper batter, who last participated in a Twenty20 International in 2021 against New Zealand, has made his comeback to the Afghan squad captained by the renowned cricketer Rashid Khan.

The power of the visitors will be bolstered not just by Rashid but also by players like as Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Naveen Ul Haq, among others.

The tourists have already arrived after the Eid break and are preparing for the three-match ODI series that is set to begin on July 5 in Chattogram. This comes after the visitors suffered a defeat in the lone Test match against Bangladesh by a margin of 546 runs. The following two matches are scheduled for the 8th and 11th of July, respectively, at the same location.

The action will then shift to Sylhet, where the first Twenty20 International event of the two-match series will take place on July 14 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The second game of the series will take place on July 16 at the same venue.
