According to a BFF statement, president Kazi Salahuddin of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) underwent a successful coronary artery bypass operation at a city hospital on Thursday.

Following the operation, Salahuddin, who concurrently serves as the president of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for ongoing postoperative monitoring.

“The medical team is closely monitoring the president’s vital signs and overall condition to ensure a smooth and uneventful recovery,” according to the BFF statement. “Our outlook on the president’s condition is positive.” The physicians are content with the surgical result and are optimistic regarding the patient’s complete recuperation.

The 70-year-old was admitted to the BFF House on December 17, the day after unveiling the nameplates of Shadhin Bangla Football Team members, due to hypertension.

The ex-national team footballer was monitored for several complications prior to undergoing surgery, which ultimately proved to be successful.
