Yesterday, a really good cricket player from India named Sachin Tendulkar turned 50 years old. It’s a big achievement for him!
The Mumbai Indians team celebrated a famous cricket player’s birthday two days early during their game against the Punjab Kings at a stadium in Mumbai.
A man named Ravi Shastri said that he recently turned fifty years old and it took a long time to get there, but he feels very happy and satisfied with his life. He used to play and coach cricket for India.
Tendulkar said that this was the slowest fifty he had ever scored, but also the most enjoyable and interesting. He learned a lot from it, and it was a mix of good and bad moments. He feels proud to have represented India for 24 years.
Tendulkar and Brian Lara got a special recognition for being really good at cricket. They had a set of gates named after them at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where all the players go through to get to the field. This is a big honor, like being a superhero!
There were special doors put up to celebrate Tendulkar’s 50th birthday and the 30th anniversary of a famous cricket game where West Indies player Lara did really well. It was the first of many great games he played.
The Australian cricket team go onto the field through one gate named after a famous player, and the other team comes through a gate named after two other famous players.
Tendulkar really liked playing cricket at a special place called the Sydney Cricket Ground. He played there five times and did really well, scoring an average of 157 points.
