Sabina Khatun, captain of Bangladesh’s national women’s team, has accepted an invitation to play for Kickstart FC in the present Indian Women’s League.

“Kickstart has offered me a place in the Indian Women’s League.” “I’ve already applied for an Indian visa and am awaiting it,” Sabina said to The Daily Star on Thursday.

Kickstart are second in the seven-team standings, with nine points from three games, three less than leaders Odisha FC.

Sabina is wanted by the Bengaluru-based club before their next encounter against Sethu FC, for whom Sabina played in 2018.

Sabina will be able to participate in up to nine matches between now and March if she obtains the visa.

Last year, a few Bangladesh players allegedly got offers to play in the Indian Women’s League, but the Bangladesh Football Federation refused to release the players due to the possibility of launching its own Women’s Super League, which never materialized.
