Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has responded strongly to accusations from agency Mamuka Jugeli, who represents club teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, that he will quit the Serie A club for Saudi Arabia at the conclusion of current season.
Jugeli told 1TV of Georgia on Tuesday that, although Osimhen has signed a new deal with Napoli, he thinks the Nigerian would transfer to Saudi Arabia once the season is over.
Osimhen, who is now on international duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, responded to Jugeli’s comments on social media on Wednesday.
“Dear Mamuka Jugeli, you are a scumbag and a shame. “I’m embarrassed by your logic,” Osimhen said on Instagram, before describing the agent with a violent curse term.
“Keep my name out of your mouth!!!” added Osimhen.
On Wednesday, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, responded to Jugeli, who also indicated that Georgian winger Kvaratskhelia would never accept such a deal for money.
“Agent Mamuka Jugeli’s alleged words are bad, superficial, and unacceptable.” These statements cause issues for my player Victor Osimhen with Napoli supporters for no apparent reason,” Calenda stated on X.
The debate comes at a time when Napoli is struggling to defend its league crown, with no wins in three league games and sitting in ninth position in the rankings.
“We have just signed a contract extension, and Victor’s only wish, aside from the Africa Cup of Nations, is to assist Napoli.” “Everything else is nonsense,” Calenda said.
On Sunday, Osimhen and Nigeria will kick off their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea.
