Ronaldinho told AFP on Sunday that star French striker Kylian Mbappe can win the Ballon d’Or with “any team,” but the Brazilian would want him to win it with Paris Saint-Germain, a “big club.”
“A great player like him can have the opportunity to win the Ballon d’Or in any team, but as I love PSG, I would like him to do it with PSG,” the two-time world champion stated.
“I’m hoping he wins. He’s a nice friend and a fantastic player. “I like his style of play,” he told AFP during an interview in Thailand.
The famous trophy continues to elude the French captain, who finished third this year, his highest finish to yet.
“Winning the big competitions will help him a lot,” Ronaldinho, who wore the No.10 shirt for PSG from 2001 to 2003, stated.
“PSG is a great club,” the Brazilian remarked while in Bangkok as an ambassador for Teqball, a novelty sport that combines football and table tennis.
Mbappe will have a busy and potentially uncertain year next year.
With PSG, the 24-year-old may make a run to the Champions League finals as well as the Euro 2024 finals.
“Winning the Champions League is extremely difficult this year, as it is every year.” But PSG has a wonderful coach and very good players, so anything is possible,” stated the former Barcelona and Milan star.
However, Paris coach Luis Enrique, under whom Ronaldinho spent a season at Barcelona in 2003 and 2004, is a “very good coach.”
“He was a very strong player.” I witnessed what he accomplished. “I hope everything goes well for him,” he remarked.
Mbappe must also negotiate an uncertain deal that might see him leave Paris in June.
Real Madrid, which has been pursuing him for several years, appears to be the best bet.
