Rashid Khan, the spin partner of Noor Ahmad in Gujarat Titans, is impressed with Ahmad’s performance in his first season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He believes that Ahmad’s progress is a good sign for cricket in Afghanistan.
In Tuesday’s match, Noor was the best among the Gujarat bowlers as he managed to dismiss Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav and Tim David, leading to their 55-run victory over Mumbai Indians.
The 18-year-old spinner has found a mentor in his fellow Afghan player Rashid at Gujarat, and the two have become a strong partnership for the defending champions with the young spinner taking six wickets from three matches.
Rashid expressed his pleasure in having Noor on the team and bowling together, as Noor had made his international debut in a T20 match against Zimbabwe in June of the previous year.
The young child is eager to gain knowledge and is dedicating considerable effort towards their studies.
Rashid was very impressed by the left-arm spinner’s dedication to improving, even though he didn’t play for Gujarat last season.
Rashid stated that the individual bowled frequently during practice and was inquisitive.
He would suggest playing bowling in the gym when I was there in the evening.
He was so dedicated to improving and performing that he was even bowling with me in the gym late at night, even past 1 or 2 a.m.
He has been given a chance and he is succeeding, which makes me very pleased for him. This is excellent news for both GT and Afghanistan.
Gujarat, who are tied with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL standings, will play against Kolkata Knight Riders in their upcoming match on Saturday.
