Despite losing a number of players, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique insists he does not need to restock his team in the transfer market.

“I don’t need anything; I have enough good players,” the Spaniard stated on Saturday.

He did, however, leave the door open to fresh entrants in the Parc des Princes if the proper chance arose.

“But, with the management, we are open to improving the team during each transfer window,” Luis Enrique declared during a news conference on the eve of PSG’s Ligue 1 trip to Lens.

“We remain on the ball, open, during the transfer window – but we don’t need anyone,” he said after the team signed Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo on January 1.

“Inevitably, he needs time to adapt,” he stated of Beraldo. Summer in Brazil, winter in the United States. He’s doing well and seems to be mature for his age (20).

“We are a family at this club, and are trying to get him settled in as quickly as possible.”

Another Brazilian, midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, is set to join PSG but has yet to sign a contract after having foot surgery.

PSG have numerous injured players, notably defender Milan Skriniar, while full-back Achraf Hakimi is overseas with Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations and South Korean offensive midfielder Lee Kang-In is at the Asian Cup.

Presnel Kimpembe and Nuno Mendes are both missing and wounded.

After the Christmas break, PSG will continue their Ligue 1 championship defense against last season’s runners-up Lens, with all eyes on France captain Kylian Mbappe’s future.

Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of June, and he is free to negotiate a new deal with any club for the 2024-25 season.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi underlined last week that the club is the greatest fit for the 25-year-old despite persistent rumors that he would join Real Madrid in the summer.

Mbappe was on fire last weekend, scoring a hat-trick as PSG thrashed sixth-tier French Cup foes Revel 9-0.
