On Saturday, Edward Enrique’s magnificent second-half goal helped Bangladesh Police FC back to winning ways in the Bangladesh Premier League with a 1-0 triumph against Sheikh Russel KC at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
Police moved up to third place with six points, three fewer behind leaders Bashundhara Kings, while Sheikh Russel fell to fourth place with four points after their first loss of the season.
A young Sheikh Russel team came into the match on the back of a creditable 1-1 draw against Mohammedan, but they faced a stiff battle against a tenacious Police side, who had previously lost 1-0 to Sheikh Jamal.
Both teams created a few decent opportunities, but the Police attackers failed to capitalize, while their goalkeeper Ahsan Habib superbly saved a left-footer from Japanese Kodai Lida to keep the team in the game.
In the 64th minute, Edward scored the game-winning goal for Police on an eye-catching side-volley after a back-header from Rashed Hossain following a long throw-in from Manas Karipov.
