Bangladesh celebrates a 3-0 win against Singapore in the AFC U-17 Women’s Asia Cup Qualifiers yesterday.
Bangladesh won Group D’s last match at the Jalan Besar Stadium Wednesday to advance to the second round of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Bangladesh advanced with Sauravi Akanda Prity’s two penalty kicks and Sultana Akter’s goal.
Bangladesh, who had twice reached the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship finals, won a tough Singapore test to advance. On Facebook live, many thousand expatriate Bangladeshis chanted “Bangladesh, Bangladesh!” throughout the match, giving them a home-field advantage.
Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, India, and Philippines are already group leaders.
Two additional Group E and H teams will join the group winners. The eight-team second round, divided into two groups, will play round-robin league matches from September 16 to 24. In April 2024, the top two teams from each group will join reigning champions Japan, DPR Korea, China, and hosts Indonesia in the eight-team final round.
