The Bangladesh Premier League came to a close on Saturday, with Mohammedan and Sheikh Russel KC finishing in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

After finishing in ninth and eighth places in their previous two seasons of top-flight football, the Police ended with 35 points in third position after defeating Chittagong Abahani at Munshiganj by a score of 3-2 to achieve their best-ever finish in top-flight football.
Mohammad Abdullah, Mateo Palacios, and Robiul Hasan gave Police a 3-0 lead at the halftime break. After the break, David Ojukwu and Mohammad Nahian scored two late goals for the port city side, who ultimately ended in eighth place with 21 points.
After defeating Rahmatganj MFS at Cumilla by a score of 3-1, Mohammedan ended in fourth place with 32 points. Sunday Emmanuel, Arif Hossain, and Soleymane Diabate each scored a goal for the Black and Whites. Emon Hossain scored an equalizer for Rahmatganj in the dying seconds of the game. With 19 points, Rahmatganj finished ninth, only one spot above the relegation zone.
Sheikh Russel defeated Muktijoddha Sangsad by a score of 3-2 at the Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka during the day’s other match. Muktijoddha Sangsad had been demoted before to the match.
The home team had an early 2-0 lead in the match with to goals from Kenneth Ikechukwu and Mohammad Ibrahim. However, Muktis responded with goals from Emmanuel Ikechukwu and Landry Ndikumana to draw level. The goal scored by Dipok Roy in the 78th minute gave Sheikh Russel all three points, bringing their total to 30 points at the end of the match. Azampur FC and Muktijoddha both finished with 15 points at the conclusion of the season, which means both teams will be demoted to the Bangladesh Championship League.
Dorielton Gomez, a striker with the Bashundhara Kings, finished the season with 20 goals, making him the league’s leading scorer. The Bashundhara Kings won their fourth championship in a row.
