The injury-plagued season of French midfielder Paul Pogba will conclude the same way it began, with the Frenchman being ruled out for two to three weeks with a thigh ailment after tests were performed on Monday.

According to his club, Juventus, the player who won the World Cup in 2018 suffered a second injury to his left thigh during his first competitive start of the season on Sunday against Cremonese. Pogba instantly pulled up and fled the field after 23 minutes concealing his face beneath his jersey after taking a shot after the first minute had elapsed.

Exams performed on Monday morning at the club’s medical center “revealed an injury” to the “right femoral muscle of the left thigh,” according to a statement published by Juventus on their official website.

According to a source close to the club who spoke with AFP, the typical healing period for this kind of injury is anywhere between fifteen and twenty days. On June 4, twenty days from now, the Turin club will play its last game of the Serie A season on the road against Udinese.

Based on the timeframe provided by Juventus, it appears like Pogba may be able to participate in France’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Gibraltar on June 16 and Greece on June 19.

Pogba was forced to sit out a significant portion of the season after suffering an injury to his right knee during the preseason shortly after his return from Manchester United the previous summer.

At first, he decided against undergoing surgery in order to increase his chances of being selected for the World Cup in Qatar.

However, despite Pogba’s subsequent decision to change his mind, he was unable to recuperate in time for France’s game against Argentina in the final, which resulted in France’s loss of their title as world champions.

At the end of February, he made his comeback to club action, but after two brief appearances off the bench, he was sidelined with an injury to the right thigh and had to sit out the rest of the season.

Before getting the start on Sunday, he had previously appeared in a few matches in April as a substitute for a total of a few minutes.
