Sajid Khan was reinstated by Pakistan after fellow spinner Abrar Ahmed was ruled out of the opening Test against Australia due to a leg injury, selectors announced on Sunday.
Abrar will remain with the team to undergo treatment, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“Ahmed injured his leg around the knee during the tour game and his MRI suggests rest and rehabilitation, which means he will not be available for the first Test,” a press release from the Pakistan Cricket Board stated.
Abrar will be evaluated for the second Test in Melbourne beginning December 26, according to the statement. The third Test begins on January 3 in Sydney.
Sajid, 30, completed his seven Tests against Australia in March 2022 and will go to Perth to join the team prior to the match.
