New zealand win first bilateral series in bangladesh since 20080

Will Young, the opening batsman for New Zealand, hit fifty runs as his team, the Blackcaps, defeated Bangladesh in the third and final one-day international match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday. New Zealand won by seven wickets.

It’s the first time the Blackcaps have won a bilateral series in Bangladesh since 2008, and they did it by sweeping the competition 2-0.

Henry Nicholls produced an unbeaten 50 off of 86 balls to assist the visitors to a comfortable victory as they chased Bangladesh’s 171-run total with 91 balls still to play. Young scored a 70 off of 80 balls that included 10 fours and a six as part of an 81-run partnership that he stitched together with Henry Nicholls.

Shoriful Islam, a Bangladeshi pacer, took two wickets, and Nasum Ahmed, also from Bangladesh, took one scalp.

After electing to bat first, the Tigers were led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, who got his seventh fifty in a One-Day International, but his team was unable to achieve a score that was competitive.
