Tuesday’s third one-day international match between Bangladesh and New Zealand was going poorly for them when they lost three wickets for 35 runs in six overs.

In Mirpur, under cloudy conditions, debutant Zakir Hasan (1) and juvenile Tanzid Hasan Tamim (5) were unable to negotiate the movement from Adam Milne and Trent Boult. Towhid Hridoy, who was looking to launch a counterattack, was unsuccessful in his attempt to smoke one over cover and instead only managed to slice the ball to the fielder.

Alongside seasoned veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, stand-in skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was tasked with the burden of completing the repair job.
