Nayeem available for mirpur test despite finger injury0

Today’s workout in Mirpur resulted in a finger injury for off-spinner Nayeem Hasan.Nayeem was batting during an indoor net session when his right index finger was injured. He jumped out of the nets as medical personnel treated him, his finger gushing.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s medical staff advised The Daily Star today that Nayeem’s injury is not significant and that he is available for selection for the upcoming Test in Mirpur.

Bangladesh will begin the second Test against New Zealand in Dhaka tomorrow, and Nayeem was instrumental in the Tigers’ 150-run victory in Sylhet.

Nayeem had kept things tight with the ball, taking one wicket for 73 runs in the first innings before taking two more wickets for 40 runs in 17 overs in the second innings.

During a press conference earlier today, coach Chandika Hathurusingha stated that he was quite impressed by Nayeem.

“He has the most wickets in the NCL.” He arrives with assurance and rhythm. That was evident in the game. He was excellent in his role. He was the offensive bowler at times and the defensive bowler at others. He instilled fear in batters’ heads. He actually elicited a response from someone like Kane Williamson. “He really impressed me,” Hathurusingha stated.
