Napoli's title decider pushed back to sunday0

The match between Napoli and Salernitana that could decide the Italian title has been rescheduled to Sunday due to concerns over public safety raised by officials in Naples.

If Napoli beats Salernitana and Lazio loses to Inter Milan, Napoli will become the champions of southern Italy’s biggest club for the first time in 31 years with six matches left to play.

Napoli’s game was supposed to be the first match on Saturday at 1 PM GMT, but it has been rescheduled to the same time on Sunday after Lazio’s game.

The league’s announcement, originally scheduled for Thursday, will now be made on Friday because the Naples authorities have not sent written communications on time.

There are concerns about security due to the anticipated wild partying in Naples as tourists flock to watch Lazio’s match with Inter on Saturday.

Naples prefect Claudio Palomba announced that the match would be postponed for a day to prevent events from overlapping and to assist the police.

On Saturday, a large comic book convention will take place in Naples, attracting many fans to the city.

Palomba stated that if they had kept the match on Saturday, they would have needed to increase their resources. Therefore, they have implemented several measures. According to Italian media, Napoli’s next game against Udinese will also be rescheduled from May 2 to May 4.

If Napoli earns at least five points, they will win the title, making the upcoming game crucial for their long-awaited victory.
